Jenny Kapichen
Registered Psychotherapist (RP)
Hello, I’m Jenny. I’m a therapist based in Toronto, offering virtual support across Ontario and in-person sessions locally. I work with individuals and couples who want to strengthen the meaningful relationships in their lives—whether that’s with yourself, your work, your loved ones, or the world around you.
My approach is rooted in Gestalt therapy, and I integrate approaches from somatic therapy, mindfulness, and emotionally focused therapy to offer you a personalized experience tailored to meet your needs and desired outcomes in therapy.
I’d love to support you in finding balance in your inner world, deepening an appreciation for yourself, strengthening your connections, navigating life’s challenges, feeling more confident in who you are and what you want, or whatever else has led you here.
Individual Therapy (18+)
I take a relational approach to therapy, which means I want to understand your experiences from your perspective. Together, we’ll explore the thoughts, beliefs, values, and patterns that shape you and your relationships with the world. One of the most powerful aspects of therapy is the experience of being truly seen and understood by someone (sometimes for the first time), which can be a deeply healing experience.
Our sessions will feel like a conversation. In our first meetings, I’ll guide us with questions to get to know you and understand what you’d like to explore in therapy. From there, we’ll find an approach that feels right for you. Each session lasts 50 minutes, with the last 10 minutes dedicated to closing with one another, reflection, and note-taking.
Couples Counselling
I see relationships like a garden—they need care and attention to thrive. Without tending, unintended weeds take root. Nurturing a strong, healthy connection takes effort, and the result can be something truly beautiful!
In my work with couples, I integrate Gestalt therapy and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) to help partners break out of negative patterns, deepen their emotional bond, and explore the next steps in their relationship. My goal is to help you and your partner (re)discover an appreciation for one another, in order to truly see, hear, and support each other in a meaningful way.
Our sessions will be 75 minutes long, with 65 minutes spent in conversation. I will spend the last 10 minutes of our time on reflection, note-taking, and planning the next session.
What is Gestalt Therapy?
Gestalt therapy is a creative and experiential approach that helps us tune into our emotions and experiences in the present moment. It’s about deepening self-awareness, both in our relationships and in the situations we navigate, so we can respond to life with real choice and clarity.
As a Gestalt therapist, I don’t see my role as “fixing” or giving advice. Instead, I create a space where we can explore together, helping you make meaning and discover new possibilities. You are the expert on yourself, and I trust that, given the right support, you’ll move toward growth in the way that’s right for you.
What does “the right fit” mean?
The therapeutic alliance or the relationship and trust you build with your therapist, is one of the most important factors in effective therapy. It’s about how comfortable and safe you feel with your therapist, and feeling that connection is key to creating a space where you can open up and grow. It’s important for clients to determine what the right fit is. Sometimes, you’ll get a sense of this during the first consultation, while other times, it may take a few sessions to know for sure. You are free to discontinue therapy for any reason at any time, no explanation is needed.
